THE KEC EXPERIENCE

For The Mind

Our activities challenge campers to become creative problem solvers, strong communicators, and confident leaders. The best way to learn is through play!

For The Body

We offer diverse options so campers can choose physical activities that they enjoy and excel at. We balance high energy activities with opportunities to relax and unwind.

For The Spirit

KEC is a safe space for campers of all religious and spiritual backgrounds to explore life’s big questions. We build self-esteem by helping campers to see their potential.

Action Packed Days

8:00

Wake Up & Polar Dip!

Fun starts bright and early at KEC! Campers have the option of taking a plunge into chilly Sylvan Lake. If you brave the water every morning, you'll earn a Polar Dip Certificate and special bead for your KEC bracelet.
8:45

Morning Watch

Morning Watch gives us a chance to stretch, laugh, and set our purpose for the day. Our morning reflection usually includes a wake-up exercise, active song, and introduction to our daily theme.
9:00

Breakfast

We know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and we plan accordingly! Breakfast includes a mix of protein, fruit, and dairy options to ensure that campers are fuelled for the busy day ahead.
10:30

Community Conversation

Each summer KEC develops a unique summer theme that helps us to explore faith, friendship, and community. During Community Conversation, we reflect on the summer theme through music, discussion, and activities.
11:15

Interest Session 1

KEC is a "choose your own adventure" kind of camp. Interest sessions allow campers to choose what activities they participate in throughout the day. We try to offer something for everyone, and offer new activities yearly.
12:30

Lunch Time

We'd tell you that our cooking is "delicious and nutritious," but that just sounds like a cereal advertisement! However, we're proud to say that meal-time might be considered the most popular activity of the day thanks to our creative cooking team.
13:00

Toes Up

In the spirit of siesta, this is a chance for campers to recharge before returning to the action-packed afternoon! Campers can choose a quiet activity around their cabins- you might read a book, have a quick nap, write a letter home, or visit in the shade.
14:00

Interest Session 2

Interest sessions are our way of offering campers choice in how they experience camp. Sessions are offered on a sign-up basis, and if a session fills up, we'll offer it more than once.
14:45

Gulp'n'Go

Pop in for a quick a snack, a glass of water, and a fresh layer of sunscreen! This is our way of making sure our campers are well hydrated and sun-safe.
15:00

Interest Session 3

Three interest sessions per day ensures that campers have lots of choice and variety.
15:45

Swim Time

Swimming, swimming, in Sylvan Lake. When days are hot, and days are cold, in Sylvan Lake! You get the idea. We love our little piece of the lake! Campers take a swim-test to determine how far they can venture into our swimming area, and lifejackets are available for reluctant swimmers. Our inflatable water slide and trampoline are a real hit, too!
16:30

Cabin Time

One of the best parts of camp is forming a special bond with your cabin mates. Our staff work hard to give their cabin clans a unique experience. This is time for cabin-exclusive activities. Campers might get to do a special craft, plan a kitchen raid, prepare for a campout, or compete for a "Most Original" cabin award.
17:30

Supper Time

Mealtimes are never dull at KEC- whether it's a pop-up karaoke, mashed potato sculpturing, or a dress-up theme! Around here, laughter is considered a food group, too.
18:30

Cabin Time

This is another chance for cabin mates to hang out and build friendships or rehearse for a campfire performance.
19:00

Total Camp Activity

TCA is a high-energy time for the entire camp. We put our own twists on popular wide games like capture the flag, dodge ball, Clue, and musical chairs. TCA focuses on cooperation and laughs with a hint of competition.
20:00

Campfire

Campfires are a chance for staff and campers to showcase their performance skills. Our talented staff engage campers in skits, pranks, and sing-offs.
21:00

Snack Time

One last snack sends everyone to bed with satisfied tummies!
21:15

Vespers

Vespers brings each day to a close with reflection upon what we learned together. The sunset reflects off of Sylvan Lake as we celebrate the blessings of the day.

Our Traditions

Midnight campfires, kitchen raids, polar dipping, sunset Vespers, and alumni bracelets… Our traditions make KEC one-of-a-kind.

Food To Write Home About

Camp Classics

It wouldn’t be camp without the classics. Soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, taco time, spaghetti and meat balls, mac’n’cheese, chicken caesar wraps, pancakes, and wiener roasts are some of the timeless favourites around here.

Lots of Variety

The best way to get campers eating balanced meals is to offer variety. Breakfast is served with alternatives like cereal, yogurt, and fruit, on the side. Lunch often includes “build-it-yourself” options like open face sandwiches, and  salad bars.

Flexibility

We are able to accommodate special diets including vegetarians, lactose-free, gluten-free, and allergies. Our kitchen and counselling staff also work hard to identify and accommodate picky eaters so that everyone leaves the table with full tummies.
