Each year, hundreds of visitors flock to the KEC Food Booth at the Red Deer Westerner. This is Kasota’s largest annual fundraiser thanks to an army of volunteers led by Shirley Gehman and Judy Ann Wybenga. In a sea of fast food novelties, our booth stands out because of an old-fashioned favourite: fresh pie! Apple, blueberry, rhubarb… these pies are baked by members of our supporting congregations and you won’t find a more affordable treat on the midway. If you plan to visit the Westerner this year, be sure to stop by for a hot dog, some fries, and of course, a slice of pie!
“Many of us are old campers,” explained Joyce. The crew looks sharp this year in KEC branded aprons and our booth has a new awning and flags to draw in customers.
